Magnesium Die Castings are produced from alloy with a specific gravity of 1.74 g/cc, making it the lightest commonly used structural metal. High-purity Mg alloy AZ91D is the most widely-used magnesium die casting alloy, offering excellent corrosion resistance and castability. Its material strength is among the highest of the Mg die casting alloys, often used to replace plastic parts where greater rigidity and strength is required with no weight penalty.
Faster Cycling Hot-Chamber Mg Die Casting is used by CWM for its magnesium production: its Mg department is the largest custom production facility of its kind in North America. CWM was a pioneer in this process for magnesium die castings and operates two of among the world's largest hot-chamber Mg machines.
